Detailed itinerary;
Day 1: Arrival and Hotel Transfer
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our guide. They will provide you with a briefing and transfer you to your hotel for relaxation and dinner. Take this time to refresh and prepare for the upcoming adventure.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Evening Game Drive
After breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up and give you a short briefing about your 7-day safari. Begin your 6-hour drive from Kigali to Lake Mburo National Park, crossing the Rwanda-Uganda land border. Upon arrival, have lunch and get ready for an evening game drive. Encounter a variety of wildlife species such as zebras, buffalo, giraffes, and elands. Check in at the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and a nocturnal game drive.
Day 3: Nature/Community Walks and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Start the day with a morning game drive through Lake Mburo National Park, enjoying sightings of wildlife and bird species in the scenic Savannah grasslands. After the game drive, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a stopover for lunch along the way. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Afternoon Boat Cruise during the 11-Day Gorilla Trekking and Savannah safari
After breakfast, embark on an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience, getting up close with these fascinating creatures. Transfer to your lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a memorable boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, offering fantastic opportunities for photography and game viewing. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Start the day with an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can spot a wide range of wildlife species. After the game drive, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, famous for its endangered mountain gorillas. Enjoy the scenic drive through remote and hilly plains covered in lush greenery. Check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Set off early morning with your packed lunch for an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience. Meet your allocated gorilla family and ranger escorts for a thrilling adventure in the forest. After gorilla trekking, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Spend the evening at the resort, enjoying the beauty of the area.
Day 7: Explore Lake Bunyonyi during the 11-Day Gorilla Trekking and Savannah safari
Spend the entire day exploring the magnificent Lake Bunyonyi. Take a boat ride to visit various islands, learn about their traditional significance, and spot numerous bird species and other wildlife. Lake Bunyonyi is known for its scenic beauty and is a must-visit destination. Enjoy your evening at the resort.
Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, embark on a road trip to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival, visit Ibiwachu Culture Village for a cultural tour. Immerse yourself in the history and present-day livelihood of Rwandan citizens through cultural performances, village walks, and museum visits.
Day 9: Mount Bisoke Hiking
Start your day with a briefing at the Volcanoes National Park offices before hiking Mount Bisoke. The hike takes approximately 4-6 hours, offering stunning views of Crater Lake on top of the volcano and other mountain ranges. Descend back to the starting point and return to your lodge.
Day 10: Golden Monkey Tracking and Twin Lakes Visit
Embark on a golden monkey tracking adventure in Volcanoes National Park. Spend approximately 4 hours in search of these endangered species and enjoy observing their behavior in their natural habitat. In the evening, visit the Twin Lakes or Musanze Caves for more adventurous experiences. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 11: City Tour in Kigali
Transfer to Kigali for a city tour, starting with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center to learn about the tragic events of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Explore local markets, visit the Presidential Palace Museum, and browse artisan shops. Enjoy lunch at a suitable hotel before relaxing or transferring to the airport or your hotel of stay, marking the end of your safari in Rwanda.
