Detailed Itinerary
First Day: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Akagera National Park
- Arrival: Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where your guide will meet you and brief you on the upcoming adventure.
- Transfer to Akagera National Park: Drive to Akagera National Park, a journey of approximately 2.5 hours.
- Afternoon Game Drive: Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive to explore the park’s diverse landscapes and wildlife.
- Dinner & Overnight: Check into your lodge within the park.
Second Day: Full-Day Game Drive in Akagera National Park
- Morning Game Drive: Rise early for a full-day game drive in Akagera National Park. Discover the park’s rich biodiversity, including elephants, lions, giraffes, and a variety of bird species.
- Picnic Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the park with stunning views of the savannah.
- Boat Safari on Lake Ihema: In the afternoon, take a boat safari on Lake Ihema to see hippos, crocodiles, and numerous water birds.
- Dinner & Overnight: Return to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.
Third Day: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
- Morning Transfer: After breakfast, depart for Volcanoes National Park, a 5-hour drive through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside, passing through the rolling hills and lush landscapes.
- Lunch En Route: Stop for lunch in a local restaurant along the way.
- Evening at Leisure: Arrive at Volcanoes National Park in the late afternoon. Spend the evening at your lodge, preparing for the next day’s gorilla trekking.
- Dinner & Overnight: Settle in at your lodge near the park.
Fourth Day: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
- Gorilla Trekking: Start the day early with a briefing at the park headquarters before embarking on a thrilling gorilla trekking adventure. Trek through the dense forest to find a family of mountain gorillas and spend an unforgettable hour observing these magnificent creatures.
- Post-Trek Relaxation: Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. The afternoon is free to explore optional activities such as visiting the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village or taking a nature walk.
- Dinner & Overnight: Enjoy dinner at your lodge.
Final Day: Return to Kigali & Departure
- Morning at Leisure: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your lodge. If time permits, take a short walk around the area or visit local communities.
- Transfer to Kigali: After lunch, depart for Kigali. Depending on your flight time, you may have the opportunity for some last-minute shopping or a visit to local craft markets.
- Departure: Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
