Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Welcome to Kenya and Nairobi Wildlife Experience

Your exciting 5 Days Kenya Safari with Kyooma Gorilla Safaris begins upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi. After completing immigration formalities and collecting your luggage, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional Kyooma Gorilla Safaris representative and driver-guide. You will receive a short briefing about the safari before transferring to your hotel in Nairobi.

Depending on your arrival time, you will have an opportunity to relax and recover from your international flight before enjoying lunch at your hotel or a selected restaurant in Nairobi.

In the afternoon, your introduction to Kenya’s wildlife begins with visits to two of Nairobi’s best-known conservation attractions. First, visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, famous for its work rescuing, rehabilitating and protecting orphaned elephants and other wildlife. The experience provides valuable insight into elephant conservation and the challenges facing wildlife populations in Kenya.

You will then continue to the Giraffe Centre, where you can observe endangered Rothschild’s giraffes at close range and learn about ongoing giraffe conservation and environmental education programs.

Following the day’s activities, return to your Nairobi hotel for dinner and an overnight stay while preparing for the journey into Kenya’s wilderness the following morning.

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve – Afternoon Game Drive

After an early breakfast at your Nairobi hotel, check out and meet your safari guide for the scenic journey to the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Kenya’s most celebrated wildlife destinations.

The drive takes approximately 5–6 hours, depending on road and traffic conditions. Along the way, you will travel through Kenya’s beautiful countryside and enjoy impressive views of the Great Rift Valley. Your guide may make stops at selected viewpoints where you can stretch your legs, take photographs and admire the spectacular landscape.

Continue through rural communities and agricultural areas toward the Masai Mara ecosystem. Lunch will be enjoyed en route at a local restaurant or as a packed meal, depending on the day’s schedule.

Upon arrival, check into your safari lodge or tented camp and take some time to refresh before setting out on your first Masai Mara game drive.

The afternoon game drive provides your first opportunity to encounter Kenya’s famous wildlife. The Masai Mara supports lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, cheetahs, hyenas, antelopes and numerous other species. Lucky travelers may also encounter the elusive leopard.

As the afternoon progresses, enjoy the beautiful golden light across the Mara plains before returning to your lodge or camp. Dinner will be served at the property, followed by an overnight stay surrounded by the atmosphere of the African wilderness.

Day 3: Full-Day Masai Mara National Reserve – Big Five Game Viewing and Optional Maasai Cultural Experience

Wake up early to the sounds of the African wilderness and enjoy breakfast before beginning a memorable full-day exploration of the Masai Mara National Reserve.

The morning hours provide excellent conditions for wildlife viewing because temperatures are cooler and many animals are particularly active. Your professional safari guide will explore different sections of the reserve while searching for the celebrated African Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino, although wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed.

Beyond the Big Five, the Masai Mara provides opportunities to observe cheetahs, spotted hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, topis, impalas, gazelles, warthogs, hippos and an impressive variety of birds.

During the seasonal Great Wildebeest Migration, the wider Mara-Serengeti ecosystem becomes the setting for one of the world’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles as huge numbers of wildebeest, zebras and other herbivores move through the ecosystem in search of fresh grazing.

At lunchtime, enjoy a picnic at a designated location within the reserve, surrounded by spectacular wilderness scenery. Alternatively, depending on the day’s game-drive plan, you may return to your lodge for lunch before continuing your wildlife exploration.

In the afternoon, continue with another game drive or choose an optional Maasai cultural experience. A community visit provides an opportunity to learn about Maasai traditions, pastoral lifestyles, traditional homes, clothing, dances and the relationship between local communities and the surrounding wildlife landscapes.

Later, return to your safari lodge or camp as the sun begins setting over the Mara. Enjoy dinner and spend another peaceful night in the heart of Kenya’s famous safari country.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park – Rift Valley Scenery and Afternoon Game Drive

After breakfast, check out of your Masai Mara accommodation and begin the journey toward Lake Nakuru National Park, another important wildlife destination located within Kenya’s spectacular Great Rift Valley.

The drive generally takes approximately 5–6 hours, although the actual travel time will depend on road conditions, traffic and stops made along the way. Enjoy the changing scenery as you leave the open grasslands of the Masai Mara and travel through rural settlements, agricultural landscapes and the dramatic Rift Valley.

Lunch will be enjoyed en route before continuing to the Lake Nakuru area.

Upon arrival, check into your lodge or camp and, depending on timing, proceed for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park.

Lake Nakuru is particularly famous for its birdlife and rhino conservation. Flamingo numbers around the lake fluctuate with changing water and feeding conditions, but the park remains an excellent destination for observing numerous waterbirds and other species.

The park also provides opportunities to search for white and black rhinos, buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, baboons and other wildlife. Lions and leopards also occur within the ecosystem, although sightings depend on luck and wildlife movements.

The combination of the lake, woodland, grasslands and surrounding escarpments makes the park especially attractive for landscape and wildlife photography.

After your game drive, proceed to your lodge or camp for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru to Amboseli National Park – Scenic Drive and Kilimanjaro Game Drive

Enjoy an early breakfast before checking out and beginning the journey toward Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations.

The journey is relatively long and can take approximately 6–7 hours or more, depending on traffic, road conditions and the selected route. Your guide will make appropriate comfort stops along the way, and lunch will be provided either as a packed meal or at a suitable restaurant.

As you approach southern Kenya, the landscapes gradually change, building anticipation for Amboseli’s famous open plains, wetlands and spectacular views toward Mount Kilimanjaro, located across the border in Tanzania.

Upon arrival, check into your lodge or camp before heading out for an afternoon Amboseli game drive, subject to arrival time.

Amboseli is particularly renowned for its elephants, and travelers may encounter impressive herds moving across the plains or feeding around the park’s wetlands. Other wildlife can include buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, lions, antelopes and numerous bird species.

When the weather is clear, Mount Kilimanjaro provides an extraordinary background to the landscape. Watching elephants crossing the plains beneath Africa’s highest mountain is one of the classic photographic experiences associated with a Kenya safari.

As sunset approaches, return to your lodge or camp for dinner and relaxation after an adventure-filled journey through three of Kenya’s outstanding wildlife destinations.
