Day 4: Forest Walk and Departure.

Detailed itinerary;

Day 1: Arrival and Journey to Semuliki National Park

Your adventure begins with an early departure from Kampala or Entebbe. The scenic drive to Semuliki National Park takes you through lush landscapes, rolling hills, and picturesque villages. As you approach the Albertine Rift Valley, the dramatic views of Lake Albert and the Rwenzori Mountains set the stage for your safari.

Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy a delicious lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing and soaking in the tranquility of your surroundings. In the evening, take a guided nature walk to familiarize yourself with the area’s flora and fauna. Return to your lodge for dinner and a restful night.

Day 2: Exploring the Sempaya Hot Springs

Rise early to the sounds of the wilderness and enjoy breakfast at the lodge. Today’s highlight is a visit to Sempaya Hot Springs, one of Semuliki National Park’s most iconic attractions. The park features two hot springs: the “male” hot spring (Bintente) and the “female” hot spring (Nyasimbi).

A guided hike through the forest leads you to these geothermal wonders. Along the way, spot playful primates like red-tailed monkeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys, as well as a variety of bird species. At the hot springs, marvel at the bubbling water and steaming geysers, and don’t miss the chance to boil an egg in the scalding waters – a unique and fun experience!

Spend the afternoon exploring the park’s rich biodiversity. Semuliki is home to over 400 bird species, including many rare and endemic ones, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Return to your lodge for an evening of relaxation under the star-studded sky.

Day 3: Lake Albert Adventure

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Lake Albert, one of East Africa’s Great Lakes. The lake offers stunning views and a chance to interact with local fishing communities. Enjoy a boat ride on its calm waters, where you might spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of waterbirds.

For the more adventurous, this is an opportunity to try your hand at fishing or simply relax on the shores, taking in the serene ambiance. After lunch by the lake, visit nearby cultural sites to learn about the traditions and lifestyles of the communities that call this region home. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Forest Walk and Departure

On your final day, enjoy an early breakfast before heading out for a guided forest walk. This immersive experience allows you to connect with the park’s dense forests, home to a plethora of wildlife, including forest elephants, buffalo, and chimpanzees.

After the walk, begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, carrying memories of an incredible adventure. Stop for lunch en route and arrive in the evening, marking the end of your 4-day safari.

Great time with gorilla trekking and Kiiza I had a great time doing gorilla trekking at Bwindi. The highlight of the trip (besides the gorillas, of course) was Kiiza, the driver/guide with whom I spent two days. Great guy, great personality, knowledgeable and really helped to elevate the bar. Wish you all the success, Kiiza! The only problem I had involved the visas required to go from Rwanda to Uganda and back. I ended up spending more than would be necessary if I had received the correct information. A small nuisance when considered the experience as a whole.

Great 4 days tour Rwanda/Uganda We had an amazing 4 days tour starting Kigali. The organization from Kyooma was very good. Mwijie was very fast in responding to messages and always reachable. Our Guide and Driver Kiiza did an excellent job bringing us to all our destinations safely & in time, and telling so many interesting stories about the country, the animals and locals, and much more. We had a fantastic time - thank you Kiiza. The highlights: so many. The amazing gorillas, the chimps at Kyambura Gorge, the playing golden monkeys, the >50 elefants at Kazinga Channel and much more. Great experiences!

An Experience We Will Treasure Forever Our 8-day journey in Uganda with Kyooma Gorilla Safari was truly unforgettable. From the very first contact, we felt listened to and genuinely cared for, with a perfectly tailor-made itinerary designed around our needs. The accommodations exceeded our expectations, the food was excellent, and every detail was thoughtfully organized. Our guide, Edgar, was not only a skilled and safe driver, but also a wonderful companion throughout the trip: knowledgeable, kind, and always ready to share insights, with very good English. Meeting the gorillas was an incredibly emotional, once-in-a-lifetime experience. We were especially grateful for the support in arranging a sedan chair for my mother, which made this extraordinary moment possible for her as well. We couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended!

Super bravi e organizzati!!!

High recomendation to reach out this company when planning your trip The Kyooma Gorilla Safari made our trip unforgettable. Mwije, tha manager, prepared every single detail of our journey, adapted to our needs (pick up in Rwanda, Kigali, set off in Uganda, Lake Bunyuni, incl. golden monkeys and gorilla tracking), and to our limited budget. Do not hesitate to ask her about anything, she also helped me to arrange medical treatment in local hospital! And the guide/driver Muhwezi Shever is so professional, educated and willing person always smiling. And bought us a tone of mangos in the market :-D Accomodation and food during our trip always on very high level.

Incredible 2 day gorilla trek Our experience with Kyooma for a 2 day Mountain Gorilla trek was exceptional! The entire experience was more than we could have hoped for, seeing a family of 10 gorillas up close was unforgettable. Highly recommend taking the 2 day option to visit the genocide memorial and enjoy the lodge and area, including the women's collective. Mwije (office manager at Kyooma) was so friendly and responsive, planning was easy and seamless. Our guide Robert was knowledgeable and friendly and a great driver. The accommodation at Da Vinci Lodge was excellent - the food was terrific (we chose our menu for each meal and acccomodating a vegetarian diet was no problem) and enjoyed a warm fire in our room and hot water bottles in our beds. Everyone went out of their way to make it a comfortable and worry free trip from beginning to end. Very strongly recommend Kyooma!!
