Upon arrival, the vibrant energy of Uganda greets you at the airport. Our representative ensures a seamless transfer to your accommodation in Kampala, providing an opportunity to relax and acclimate to the upcoming safari. An initial briefing offers insights into the cultural nuances and the exciting itinerary that awaits.
The second day begins with an early morning start and a picturesque drive to Kibale National Park. The journey unfolds through lush landscapes, introducing you to the captivating beauty of Uganda. Upon reaching Kibale, settle into your accommodation, a gateway to the park’s rich biodiversity. The afternoon grants you the freedom to rest or explore the surroundings at your own pace.
Start the day with a hearty breakfast, then head to the Kanyanchu Information Center for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience. First, attend a briefing led by experienced game rangers or head guides. During the briefing, you’ll receive important information and cross-check your chimpanzee trekking permits.
Next, accompanied by your driver guide, take a short drive to the trekking starting point. Once there, you’ll enter the lush forest, guided by park rangers and fellow trekkers. Prepare for an adventurous trek as you search for the chimpanzees, fully immersing yourself in their natural habitat.
When you finally encounter these fascinating primates, spend an awe-inspiring hour in their presence. You’ll have the opportunity to observe their behavior and interactions up close. After the trek, return to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the Isunga Community for a captivating cultural tour. This tour offers a chance to interact with the local Batooro and Bakiga people. Engage in traditional dances and music, and if you’re up for it, you can even learn the unique dance moves yourself!
Bid farewell to Kibale as you embark on a scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular tourist destinations. This savannah park is home to 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species, making it a prime location for wildlife enthusiasts.
Upon arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, check in at your lodge and enjoy a hot lunch.
Later, prepare for an evening game drive. During this drive, you’ll have the chance to spot a variety of bird species and animals, including hippos, buffalo, elephants, and many more.
Start your day with an early cup of coffee, then drive to the park for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. This is an excellent opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife. Keep an eye out for lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, bushbucks, waterbucks, warthogs, topis, giant forest hogs, Uganda kobs, and even hyenas.
After the game drive, return to the lodge and relax over a hot lunch.
In the afternoon, head out for a two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is home to a wide variety of animals and bird species. For bird lovers, this is a prime spot for birdwatching. You can spot pink-backed pelicans, cormorants, open-billed storks, saddle-billed storks, and many more.
In addition to the birds, you’ll see mammals like crocodiles, hippos, and elephants. After the boat cruise, return to the lodge for supper and an overnight stay.
Your journey continues as you drive to Bwindi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. En route, a stop in the Ishasha sector provides an opportunity to spot the renowned tree-climbing lions. Upon reaching Bwindi, check into your accommodation nestled within the dense forest, offering a serene ambiance.
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi, you will wake up early in the morning and head to the park’s headquarters for registration and a briefing. Once at the park’s headquarters, dos and don’ts on this experience will be read to you by a ranger. At the headquarters, you will also be assigned a gorilla group to trek and hire a porter to assist you. With your packed lunch, you will head into the forests in search of mountain gorillas. Looking for mountain gorillas takes about 2-8 hours, and when you find them, you are allowed to stay in the presence of mountain gorillas for 1 hour, taking pictures and observing the behavior of mountain gorillas. You will also spot many birds and other primates. Later, you will head back to the park’s headquarters for your trekking certificate and go back to the lodge.
As your safari comes to an end, start the day with a leisurely breakfast. Afterward, begin the journey back to Kampala. Along the way, enjoy a stopover in Ishasha for lunch. Adding a final touch to both the culinary and wildlife experiences.
