Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kampala or Kigali to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in Uganda’s southwestern corner. The route takes you through rolling hills, rural villages, and stunning countryside views. Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
After an early breakfast, set off for one of the most thrilling wildlife encounters on Earth, tracking the endangered mountain gorillas. Accompanied by experienced rangers and guides, you’ll venture into the dense forest in search of a gorilla family. The trek can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on their location. But the moment you finally lock eyes with a giant silverback or watch a baby gorilla playfully cling to its mother, all fatigue fades away. You’ll spend up to one hour observing and photographing these incredible primates in their natural habitat, a truly life-changing experience. Today is for adventure lovers! After an early breakfast, embark on the challenging yet rewarding Mount Sabyinyo hike (3,669 meters above sea level). The name “Sabyinyo,” meaning “Old Man’s Teeth,” refers to its jagged peaks that resemble worn-out teeth.
The hike takes about 7–8 hours round trip and offers a unique opportunity to stand in three countries at once. Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo — from its summit. The trail is steep and muddy in sections, but ladders and well-marked paths make it safe for determined hikers. Within these 4 Days Gorillas tour, you’ll enjoy views of other Virunga volcanoes.
